DIVAR: Divar residents are agitated over the non-release of Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) monthly pension. The residents have complained of not getting their DSSS pension money from February 2016.
Upon enquiry it has come to light that banks are not crediting the payments to accounts having four digit numbers. The banks have requested the account holders to ‘furnish’ 9 digit or 15 digit numbers.
On the other hand, life certificates have been accepted by the Social Welfare Department, and the data has been fed into the system, but not yet updated on the server. And, as a result, many cases have been rejected by banks and referred back to the Social Welfare Department for necessary correction.
It is learnt that the department has asked the beneficiaries to furnish photocopy for their bank passbooks to feed the necessary details into the system, thus making the beneficiaries to run from pillar to post. The beneficiaries were even asked to provide applications addressed to the assistant director of Social Welfare Department, Panaji, urging him to release the pension backlog. NT
