Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Saturday advised the Indian railway authorities to take into confidence Mormugao Municipal Council and the local comunidade before giving a nod for doubling of the railway track in Vasco constituency.
The inspection of the railway track and encroachments which come in the alignment of the expansion plan was postponed to a further date by Almeida after he advised the railway authorities to take opinion of the above authorities.
MMC chairperson Deepak Naik, councillors Yatin Kamurlekar and Nandadeep Raut, besides chief project manager of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd P Kshatriya, deputy collector and sub-divisional magistrate of Mormugao Gaurish Shankhwalkar were present. Almeida discussed the track expansion plan with RVNL officials and asked them to submit a feasibility report of the project and also details about the number of passenger trains which exist and have been planned to introduce from Vasco railway station to other destinations.
“I have to consider the interest of the people as I have been elected by the people,” said Almeida and further decided to hold a site inspection of the railway track and the houses that stand to be affected, after having a meeting with the MMC and comunidade.
