PANAJI: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, making a statement in the state legislative assembly on Wednesday as regards the accident pertaining to the collapse of a British-era bridge on the Mumbai-Goa highway, in Maharashtra, stated that no Goan has been reported missing in the ensuing vehicular accident, which claimed many lives.
“The news of the accident has spread panic in Goa,” he added, pointing out that the government is constantly monitoring the situation.
The collapse of the bridge on Tuesday night has resulted in the buses and vehicles plunging into the Savitri river near Raigad district, 84 km from Mumbai.
“I have already directed the Director General of Police to find out if any Goan was travelling in any of the vehicles that have met with the accident,” Parsekar, who also holds the Home portfolio, informed the House, adding that the government would do all that is possible, if any Goan is found to be a victim of the accident.
