Since the arrest of St Cruz MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate in the minor girl rape case, he has been taken to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) on a number of occasions for psychological tests.
Sources said that during Babush’s medical examination at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), it was noticed that there were a number of injury marks on his body. Following this, he was referred to the IPHB at Bambolim at least on three occasions since his arrest on Thursday last week.
Sources said that the injury marks suggest that he (Babush) could be trying to derive pleasure and it could be linked to sadistic or masochistic behaviour. Tests are being done to ascertain whether the injury marks are part of him (Babush) trying to derive masochistic pleasures.
According to experts in the medical field, masochistic pleasure is the tendency to derive sexual gratification from one’s own pain or humiliation. The pain could be self-imposed or imposed by others.
Babush has also been taken to the GMC on a number of occasions and has undergone a number of medical tests including that of potency, and the results are said to be positive.
