A youth from New-Vaddem, Vasco was left injured while two others escaped unhurt after a group of around 15 to 20 persons attacked them inside the premises of Vasco police station late evening on Wednesday.
As per information, the assailants entered the main gate of the police station around 9.15 pm on four to five two-wheelers brandishing knives, hockey sticks and other objects and assaulted Santan Correia of New-Vaddem.
Two other youth Damanna Madar and Nazir Shaikh luckily escaped unhurt. Correia has sustained injury to his face and also has a fracture injury to his hand.
The trio had come to the Vasco police station to enquire about one Samir Shaikh alias Chammu of New-Vaddem who was rounded up by the police, following a complaint lodged by some persons earlier in the evening.
A police officer said that it may be a case of previous enmity. He also disclosed that the police have recovered a knife from the assault site. The police are on a lookout of the accused persons as per the description given by the victim.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the CCTV camera installed at the entrance gate of the police station building is non-functional for the last several years.
