PONDA: Ponda municipality felicitated Dr Shashikant Shirsat, well-known among people as ‘Dotor Shirsat of Ponda Tisk’ and retired executive engineer Dharam Pal Singh for their service to the people of Ponda as well as to the municipality on Independence Day.
Seventy-three-year-old Shirsat has been working as an honorary medical officer for the staff and members of Ponda municipality. He had started career at Amboli and in the year 1979 returned to Goa and started practicing at Tisk-Ponda and Durbhat. He has worked for Rotary Club of Sawantwadi, Rotary Club of Ponda, Indian Medical Association etc.
Singh, 60, was associated with Nation Thermal Power Corporation of Delhi and has also served for Bhutan government. He joined Goa electricity department as junior engineer and recently retired as executive engineer at Ponda.
