National president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah on Saturday advised the state unit of the party to finalise the pre-poll alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party for the forthcoming Goa assembly election, as early as possible, including the sharing of the seats.
MGP is presently an alliance partner in the state government.
Shah, who held a special meeting with the BJP MLAs from Goa, including ministers as well as the office bearers of the state party unit, at the International Centre Goa, told the state unit to decide on the MGP-BJP tie-up, at the earliest, so that the BJP could start its preparations for the 2017 state assembly polls, particularly in its share of electoral constituencies.
The national BJP president also took stock of the political scenario in Goa vis-à-vis the forthcoming state assembly election. He also received feedback from the party legislators as regards their individual constituencies.
Shah also analysed the vote share of BJP during the 2012 state assembly election based on the basis of various parameters of voters such as gender, religion and so on.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza and state party president Vinay Tendulkar were present at the meeting along with others.
