BOB fraud: bail plea of six rejected again

The Special Court on Monday rejected the bail plea for the second time of the six accused including the two then Bank of Baroda officials arrested in connection with Rs 2.44 crore fraud reported at the Anjuna branch of Bank of Baroda.
The then branch head Udit Narayan, then clerk Swagatika Mohanty and four accused beneficiaries (account holders) Suraj Gawas, Naresh Naik, Suresh Patil and Mohammad Daulati’s bail plea has been rejected. All the accused are currently in judicial custody.
The Crime Branch police probing the case had earlier arrested Narayan and Mohanty in connection with the case.
The other four accused are among the alleged beneficiaries as the money from other
account holders were illegally transferred in their accounts and subsequently withdrawn police had said.
Money from around 7 different accounts were transferred, police said adding that Narayan is the mastermind who in connivance with other bank staff and account
holders (beneficiaries) allegedly swindled the money.
One more accused in the case Sada Gaonkar (55), the then head cashier had approached the court seeking anticipatory bail, however it was rejected. Meanwhile, anticipatory bail was granted to another account holder Makrand Mohite.
