VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council on Tuesday issued a no objection certificate (NOC) to the revised plan of St Andrew’s College, and also cleared the way for Vaddem lake beautification project.
As per available information from Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho, who attended the special meeting of the council on Tuesday, there were two overlapping plans approved for construction of the college and Vaddem lake beautification and due to which the proposed work of the lake beautification was halted.
“The two approved plans were overlapping, but with issuance of NOC, the matter has been resolved,” Godinho said. He disclosed that the lake beautification work will begin after Ganesh festival. “I have directed the concerned authorities to remove fencing of the lake in order to facilitate immersion of Lord Ganesha idols,” said Godinho.
“I have decided to build a wharf for the convenience of devotees during immersion of idols,” he said. Parish priest of St Andrew’s church Fr Gabriel Coutinho expressed satisfaction over issuance of NOC for the revised plan of the St Andrew’s College by MMC. NT
