MAPUSA: It is very sad that our youth take advantage of the facilities from our nation and after completing their education leave India for better prospect and settle in foreign country. The intelligence and skills of our country is used by foreign country. One should think what we have given to our country then ask what country has given to us, said Michael Lobo, MLA Calangute while addressing the NSS students on the occasion of Tiranga March held at Mapusa.
On Monday morning, the directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Goa University NSS cell and Goa government NSS cell organised a Tiranga March in Mapusa to celebrate the 70th Independence Day.
More than 1,000 NSS students took part in the march which began from Shri Bodgeshwar temple which entered the city and then marched towards Khorlim Shim via Mapusa Urban Bank and back to temple premises via Gandhi Circle.
The march was flagged off by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo along with chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council Sandip Falari in presence of Deputy Collector Narayan Gad, VM Prabhudessai director DSYA.
Addressing the gathering, Lobo said, “The youth had played a crucial role during the freedom struggle of India by joining in large number to make a revolution which resulted in freedom of India from the rule of British. Hence it is always said that youth are very important for any country to develop.”
MMC chairperson Sandip Falari said, “In order to make India, a global leader the youth play a very important role, which depends on their behavior. The youth should take responsibility and while fulfilling their individual dreams they should also try to achieve dream of putting India on the forefront of the world map.”
The director of DSYA VM Prabhudessai explained the importance of tricolor and said, “The wheel on the flag that is Ashoka Chakra represents the speed of the work and its 24 spokes means that we should be awake 24 hours to work for the nation.”
