CURTORIM: Goa Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has directed the South Goa Collector to immediately seal Little Hearts Dance Floor at Curtorim for operating illegally, without consent from the board in violation of water Act and the air Act.
The order, signed by the member secretary of the GSPCB, points out that the dance floor was operating despite an order from the board in March 2016 directing the owner to shut it down for operating without consent from the board.
It has been further pointed out that the septic tank and soak pit are located within two metres from the river and remains submerged under water atleast thrice a year, and so requires to be immediately closed and shifted to another location.
In 2015, the dance floor was served a stop-work order by Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority. Show cause notice had sought to know as to why the dance floor should not be demolished and the land restored to its original condition for blatant violation of CRZ notification of 2011.
It was earlier pointed out that as per the CRZ notification, the entire belt of 100 metres from the high tide line of the river and 200 metres from the HTL of the sea is designated as no development zone, and hence no construction or development whatsoever is permitted in the said belt.
