PANAJI: Bollywood actress Gul Panag, who is also an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) politician and biker led a motorcycle rally in the state on Friday dedicating it to Goan fishermen, who were allegedly lathi-charged, during a protest related to ban on the use of LED lights while fishing by the mechanised boats that turned violent.

Before taking off on a bullet, Panag said, “I am happy to be in Goa for a rally for the first time. AAP is here to put an end to the wrongdoings that are happening in the state.”

Claiming that the AAP is the choice of the people, the actress of films like ‘Dor’ and ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’ said, “People wanted a political party like AAP for a long time, as it is a party that has been following alternate politics, which is presently working in Delhi.”

The rally was attended by the AAP volunteers wearing caps and T-shirts carrying party’s name. They shouted slogans and hailed the convenor of AAP and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal who will be in Goa on May 22 to address a public rally, as a part of the election campaign for the forthcoming assembly elections in Goa.

Damasio Mendes of Goencho Ramponkarancho Ekvott said that the treatment meted out by the government to the protesting fishermen was no different than that given to the dogs, by beating them with lathis and breaking their boats.

The bikers travelled through the suburban areas around Panaji before the rally culminated at the Azad Maidan.
