MARGAO: Urging the Congress leaders to respect the grassroots-level workers, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Luizinho Faleiro, on Friday, said that Congress party is not a railway station where one can change destination if ticket is not available.
In a strong-worded message, a disturbed Faleiro said that “I am not bothered which leader comes and which leader goes. But I am bothered about creating loyal Congressmen, who have imbibed ideology and principles of the party. Congress is not a railway station wherein if there is no Mumbai ticket, one goes to Bangalore. Congress is a not a railway station, but a movement. It has discipline.”
He further said that one cannot become a leader by just displaying banners.
One has to work hard and serve the people, he added.
“This is what senior Congress leaders taught us,” he maintained.
He demanded with the Congress leaders to respect the grassroots level workers and district level workers, and added that they “should not consider these workers just as doormats.”
He said that the main agenda is to develop the party and make it ready for the election.
Meanwhile, while speaking to media on the sidelines of Seva Dal programme, Faleiro said, “We will provide free water to the people of Goa to a certain extent. We will work out economic aspect of it. We will also place the idea before the economic intellectual committee,”
He said that a vision document and mission documents will be released in due course of time.
Rane said that the Congress party can only resolve the MOI issue.
“The Congress party can only solve the language issue, and I promise that if we are brought back to power, we will solve it. We cannot play with the education of our children,” he added.
Asked for comments on the rumours doing the rounds that few of the Congress MLAs are being lured by other political parties, Rane and Faleiro said that their MLAs are not for sale. They all have respect and they are very well with the Congress.
