MAPUSA : Providing good quality vegetables at competitive prices, by opening more horticulture outlets in the state, will be of advantage to the people, said the Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, adding the artificial inflation, created by the retailers, will then be curbed, and rates will stabilise.

D’Souza was speaking after inaugurating the first air-conditioned horticulture outlet with a vegetable sorting centre at Morod, Mapusa on Friday.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government is working for the welfare of the common man.

“As we open more and more horticulture outlets, the general public will benefit as they will get good quality fruit, flowers and vegetables at competitive prices in their vicinity,” he added

The outlet has been set up  on a trial basis wherein fresh vegetables will be brought from Belgaum and sold on the same day.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman of Horticulture Corporation and Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar expressed happiness over the new outlet in Mapusa

Kandolkar said, “This outlet has got an additional feature – a sorting centre wherein vegetables brought from Belgaum will be sorted and sold on the same day”.

“We will see the response and will start a similar outlet in South Goa. Through this sorting centre our outlets in Bardez will get fresh vegetable stock on the same day,” he added.
