BJP will not flourish with imported MLAs, says Sudin
Shadowman was in Margao for the feast on Sunday when he suddenly heard the siren of a VIP vehicle. It turned out to be the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and later the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar zooming past at the Ravindra Bhavan. Why are they in Margao thought Shadowman as he was looking for answers. After a while Shadowman stepped into the half occupied pandal, and he heard the Dabolim Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho singing laurels of BJP and criticizing the Congress. Mauvin began by praising the PWD Minister Dhavalikar though hiding their political differences. After his speech, he whispered in the ears of the Union Minister Parrikar, probably confirming his ticket in Dabolim. Shadowman noted Dhavalikar having a hearty laugh while chatting with the Chief Minister and Defence Minister. When Dhavalikar’s turn came to talk, the PWD Minister sarcastically said, “BJP will not flourish with the priceless imported MLAs,’’ he fired two birds in one shot—a hint to the BJP that he is not happy with the decision of bringing in his arch political rival, Mauvin into the BJP fold, and that he is not ready to iron out differences with Mauvin.
Time to complete ‘Clean Vasco’ mission
Shadowman entered the cabin of the Chief Officer of Margao Municipal Council on Monday. While entering the cabin, Shadowman noted that the chief officer, Deepali Naik was handing over charge to Y B Tavde. “These files are to be dealt with care. There are reports that our own MMC seals and other documents have been misused by our own staff. Please be careful and take due care,’’ Shadowman heard Deepali guiding Tavde. She had already faced the music for the mischief played by the MMC. She was called at the police station to verify her signature put up on the non availability certificate issued by her to help register the late births with the MMC following a complaint. Shadowman found that the chief officer’s signatures were forged. “I cannot handle duel charge. Now, I will be in Vasco, free to complete my mission– Clean Vasco,’’ Naik told the waiting media while moving out of the office. Saxtti Shadowman silently heard the conversation and wondered whether Tavde is having a similar mission of `Clean Margao, or will it be left only on the town based film-maker turned social worker, Rajan Talak to have a Clean and Green Margao.
Opposition to western bypass disturbs CM
Shadowman sneaked into the collectorate building where a crucial meeting was taking place on the western bypass. Shadowman noted that the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar were disturbed on noticing the opposition to the western bypass. “Tell us what you want. But don’t stop the western bypass works,’’ Dhavlikar pleaded. The affected people who gathered for the meeting refused to listen to him. This annoyed the Chief Minister. He turned around and immediately asked the electronic media to close their recordings..`he te bondh korat… tumi tankam TV cher dakoitat, dekun te goroz nastonnai bhovall martat”. Shadowman heard the Chief Minister directing his words to the electronic media. A journalist standing near the window of the conference hall said, “If the Chief Minister cannot handle the situation, can we blame the media?’’. Shadowman heard him say clearly, “Hanvui Goykar Tumkam zaxi Goychi Khallji asa toxi mhakai asa”. On this occasion Shadowman noted that the Chief Minister insulted the media twice. Earlier in Colva during the launch of the underground sewerage works.
Phone politics a gimmick for not talking
At a meeting Shadowman turned around and glanced at the front row and noted that the two Goa Vikas Party (GVP) MLAs—Mickky Pacheco and Caitu D’Silva were seated close to each other. Curiously looking at them in the hall, Shadowman found that the two were not in talking terms and therefore pretended to be busy talking on the phone. Saxtti Shadowman first saw Caitu picking up his mobile and later Mickky. Both were seen not ready to face each other. But when the presentation on the western bypass came, Caitu and Mickky together raised objections to the western bypass. Shadowman wondered what went wrong with the GVP, the party which extended support to the BJP post government formation.
Is Vijai, Parsekar taking Goa Forward?
Shadowman wondered why the otherwise vociferous Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai was silent at the western bypass meeting when the views and apprehensions of the people were being expressed to the Chief Minister. Saxtti Shadowman noted Vijai was explaining `something in writing to the Chief Minister’ especially when the two were on the podium. “Let us take Goa Forward with the western bypass?’’ was it the suggestion from Vijai to the Chief Minister? Or was it the perfect way to bypass the former Fatorda MLA Damodar Naik? The silence of the MLA during the meeting raised many eyebrows, which were later zeroed down when Shadowman heard Vijai blasting the government that such meetings must be held at the preliminary stage and not when the works for the western bypass have started.
