The Marcaim locals have opposed the transfer of Marcaim comunidade land to a charitable trust or mutt at Partagal and have resolved to challenge the land transfer in court. The issue was discussed at the gram sabha held at Marcaim Village Panchayat on Sunday.
Marcaim locals claim that the comunidade land cannot be given or sold to a charitable trust. Locals alleged illegalities in land transfer process and have demanded to challenge the process.
According to information, a religious organisation or mutt at Partagal has acquired land measuring 1, 99,650 sqm of Marcaim comunidade land near the Marcaim Industrial Estate. The process has been done some years ago and locals have been opposing the issue.
The locals view is that Marcaim does not have enough land for development. So giving a huge chunk of land to a charitable trust is a waste of local assets and instead some plans such as a garbage plant or housing colony should be put in place.
Marcaim locals have demanded that the panchayat should challenge the land transfer process, as it’s totally against the code of the comunidade.
The Marcaim gram sabha also discussed the issue of illegal settlement and encroachments in the industrial area. Locals have demanded strict action against the encroachers.
The gram sabha was presided by sarpanch Yogesh Gaude. Out of the nine panchas, seven attended the meeting.
