Panaji police have arrested three more accused in connection with the death of a worker at the under-construction site of third Mandovi bridge.
The three accused have been identified as Naga Subba Reddy (24) the site engineer, Karthikeyan SPS (39), a marine foreman, G Bhaskar Rao (50) deputy project manager, all from Larsen and Tourbo firm (the bridge contractor). The accused have been released on bail, police said.
It may be recalled that police had registered a first information report (FIR) under Section 304 A IPC (causing death by negligence) against the supervisor Alep SK, the contractor (labour) B Angenelo and management of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) in connection with the case. Alep was arrested and released on bail.
The deceased Saharula SK was a native of West Bengal. He died due to burn injuries suffered while he was engaged in welding activity in a chamber which is 8 metres deep; police had said adding that it is not known what caused the fire. The incident was report on Monday afternoon.
According to Panaji police, the accused failed to provide safety equipment and proper safety measures thereby causing death of the worker.
