Additional District and Sessions court will pronounce on Thursday order on the bail pleas of two policemen – head constable Keshav Naik and police constable Mahendra Mandrekar, who are amongst the six persons arrested in the Calangute dacoity case.
The court will also pronounce order on the bail plea of main accused in the case Deepak Gadekar on Thursday.
Meanwhile, District and Sessions court has remanded Gadekar and two accused policemen to three-day police custody.
It may be recalled that businessman Karthik Kotiam, who wanted to exchange Rs 10.20 lakh in new notes for demonetised notes hoping to get Rs 6 lakh extra was allegedly called for a meeting in a hotel at Baga by self-proclaimed activist Gadekar while four of his accomplices were waiting in a car.
Gadekar allegedly snatched the bag containing notes and fled away while his other accomplices tried to kidnap the businessman and his friend in the car but the plan failed.
In this connection, Kotiam had filed a complaint with Calangute police and on December 17 police had arrested Gadekar, Naik and Mandrekar. The trio was booked under sections 395 and 120 (B) of IPC and later Crime Branch had added a section of Prevention of Corruption Act against the two police personnel and they were sent to 10 days remand. Crime branch had some days later arrested three other accused Atmaram Malwankar (31), Gautam Korgaonkar (31), and Pritesh Agarwadekar (21) in the case.
Arguments on the bail application of six accused arrested in the case were heard by the additional session’s court judge PV Sawaikar on Tuesday. Order on the bail pleas of Atmaram, Gautam and Pritesh will be passed on December 31.
