A 26-year-old youth Gaurish Dangi died while his two other friends Nikhil Diksheet and Samaresh Kanekar sustained grievous injuries in a mishap involving two scooters and a goods rickshaw at Bordem- Bicholim, on Monday. The accident took place at around 1.45 p.m.
According to police, Gaurish, a resident of Bicholim, was proceeding towards the locality on his Activa scooter bearing registration number GA04-J-0911with his friend Nikhil (36), also from Bicholim. His another friend Samaresh (35) was following them on another scooter (GA04- D-6069).
As per police information, their two-wheelers were knocked down by a speeding goods rickshaw (GA03-N-3212) on Bicholim- Mapusa highway at Bordem- Bicholim, near Shantadurga High School.
All three of them sustained serious injuries, however, Gaurish succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. Nikhil and Samaresh are admitted to GMC hospital, the police informed.
Bicholim police hawaldar Babaji Ajgaonkar conducted the panchanama. The driver of the rickshaw Imran Sheikh from Podashem was arrested. An offence has been registered against him. PSI Anand Narvekar is investigating the case.
