The economic survey 2016-17 has stated that as on March 8, 2017 as many as 34528 anganwadi children have been enrolled under Aadhaar scheme.
While 20,026 anganwadi children have been enrolled under Aadhaar scheme with the help of equipment like tabs and fingerprint scanners, 14,502 anganwadi children have been enrolled through special enrollment drives held at anganwadi centres and government primary schools.
The survey also states that as many as 3,888 primary school children have been covered under Aadhaar scheme by holding camps in the government primary schools.
A total of 153 children from the NGO El Shaddai have also been covered under Aadhaar scheme through a special camp conducted by Goa Electronics Ltd (GEL).
“As on March 15, the status of Aadhaar card generation in the state is 100.06 percent with total 15, 15,092 residents have their Aadhaar generated,” reads the survey report. The government has also facilitated generation of Aadhaar card for new born babies at all the five major hospitals in the state.
As on March 8, 2017 as many as 1052 newborn babies were enrolled at the five major government hospitals, where nearly 80 per cent of deliveries in the state take place.
In order to cover the new born babies and anganwadi children under Aadhaar scheme, the Goa government spent Rs 6, 36,210 to procure the required equipment.
The GEL was assigned the duty of enrolling new born babies at the five major government hospitals – Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Cottage Hospital, Chicalim, Hospiscio Hospital, Margao, District Hospital Mapusa and Sub-district Hospital, Ponda.
With an aim to further spread awareness about the Aadhaar enrollment, the government has organised sensitisation workshops and seminars in the state at various levels in co-ordination with resource persons.
