Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government will come out with its common minimum programme by the next week, probably by April 18.
The BJP has convened a meeting of its coalition partners, which include the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Goa Forward Party and three Independent legislators, on April 16.
Addressing the media after the swearing-in ceremony of the two new ministers at the Raj Bhavan, Parrikar warned that no one can take law in his own hands. He said that strict action will be taken against those who attempt to take law in their hands.
On the late night parties and other illegal activities, the Chief Minister said that the government has already given clear instructions to the police to crack down on drugs, prostitution rackets and illegal gambling activities and added that the police have been doing it.
When asked for his reaction on the statement made by Minister for Water Resources Vinod Palyekar demanding a ban on late night parties and rave parties, the Chief Minister said that Palyekar was talking about parties and as per the law, after 10 pm one cannot have loud music. He said that when there is no legal permission beyond 10 pm at night, there is no question of banning them.
“The government will take action as per law on any kind of activity which disturbs people,” Parrikar warned, pointing out that in fact, it is for the first time that a little law and order problem was created due to an attack on a doctor, which, he said, will not be tolerated.
“While I am very sympathetic, I will listen to every issue of any organisation or those who are in difficulties, but they cannot take law in their hands and there will be no compromise on law and order,” Parrikar said.
He further said that a special legal animal slaughtering arrangement has been made by the government for Muslim community for Kurbani, where it will give them legal place for the purpose, where all procedures are completed.
