VASCO: Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho has stated that parking problem at Dabolim airport can be resolved only with the intervention of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
He was speaking to media after launching the hot-mix carpeting work of the roads in Assoi Dongri and Vaddem on Saturday in the presence of Chicalim acting sarpanch Kamlaprasad Yadav, panch members Sebastiao Pereira, Raul D’Costa, Neelam Naik, Anita Vaz, Anita Thorat, former councillor of Mormugao Municipal Council Clifford Vaz, Ajay Thorat and others.
Godinho disclosed that the multi-level car parking facility at Dabolim airport is a waste of public money.
“The multi-level parking facility was constructed with an aim to reduce traffic congestion and resolve parking issues, however, it has not been commissioned as yet and so the problems continue,” Godinho said.
“It is the need of the hour that the Chief Minister Parsekar and Union Civil Aviation Minister Raju came together to discuss and resolve the long-pending issue of parking at the airport,” he added.
When asked about the issue of discharge of sewage in open drains passing from INS Hansa and Assoi Dongri residential areas, Godinho said he has asked Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to inspect the site and initiate action against those responsible for it. Godinho has urged the government to allocate land for setting up a garbage treatment plant at IDC Verna.
Setting up of garbage treatment plant will resolve the garbage problem of the panchayat areas coming under the radius of flying zone of Dabolim airport, he said.
