‘GSIDC to take up repair works of Kala Bhavan at Upasnagar’

Art and Culture Minister Govind Gawde has said that he has issued directions to the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) to take up all the necessary repair works of the stalled Kala Bhavan project at Upasnagar.

He was speaking to the media at the mini auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan Baina on Sunday on the sidelines of a valedictory function of a 12-day cultural workshop (Sanskar Shibir) on various activities like drama, dance involving Bharatnatyam, music, drawing, personality development and others, organised by Kala Bharati Goa. The function was attended by KBG president Arvind Shinde, folk artist Mahendra Gaonkar, tiatrist Regy Fernandes and Sheela Jagdish Kumar.

The Art and Culture Minister said, “The state government has enough funds and will be spent on the stalled Kala Bhavan project”. “The work to repair the damaged portion of the glasses and other necessary works will be taken up by the GSIDC within the next 10-days”, said Gawde.

Speaking over fund crunch with the Ravindra Bhavan Baina, he disclosed that “The state government has made provision of funds to every Ravindra Bhavan and other projects in the state which comes under the department of Art and Culture”. “I have cleared the file pertaining to the 20 percent allotment from the total annual funds to Ravindra Bhavans and other art and culture related projects in the state for this financial year. The balance funds will be disbursed as per the provisions made available by the state government”, added Gawde.

He disclosed that the Ravindra Bhavan Baina working committee will be reshuffled very soon by the government.

Speaking at the valedictory function Gawde said, “Each person has inborn qualities and it needs to be exposed”.

The Art and Culture Minister disclosed that the state government would take care of artists in the state by implementing all the schemes which are essential or benefiting the local artists. He urged the people to give their suggestions in order to promote art and culture in the state.

Earlier, Gawde honoured resource persons of the workshop namely, Sheela Jagdish Kumar, Gautam Gawde, Divya Bhor, Satish Khadapkar, Allabaksh Makandar, Pravesh Amonkar and Shraddha Dessai. The KBG president Arvind Shinde welcomed the gathering. The function was compered by Anand Waghurmekar, while Srinivas Pillai proposed the vote of thanks.
