The feast of Our Lady of Milagres was celebrated at St Jerome’s Church, Mapusa with a religious fervour on Monday.
The feast mass was celebrated by Fr Amandio Valladres, former parish priest of Mapusa.
After the feast mass, the procession of Mother Mary was taken out. The festivities are spread over 3 days, and include several cultural programmes.
During the feast, devotees seek blessings of Our Lady by burning candles, besides offering oil, money, wax replicas of human body parts and even sarees.
A stall run by Sisters of the Handmaids of Christ, Calangute makes available oil and wax replicas of human body parts.
A 10-day fair is also organised in the vicinity of the church where many stalls selling furniture, clothes, toys and other items have been put up.
