Tension prevailed at the old terminal building of the Dabolim airport on Saturday afternoon after the yellow black taxi operators staged demonstration at the airport police station for the Airport Authority of India having put restrictions on parking of their vehicles.
As per some taxi operators, they were restricted from parking their vehicles in the premises of the old terminal building by the AAI without giving any prior intimation.
The agitated yellow black taxi operators demonstrated in front of the airport police station in order to protest against the AAI’s act.
The taxi operators then met the duty officer (police sub-inspector) Jatin Potdar and the airport station PI Kapil Nayak and pleaded with them to make necessary arrangements for parking their vehicles.
The matter was later resolved with the intervention of legal advisor to the yellow black taxi operators Herculano Dourado, who pacified the agitated taxi men.
According to Dourado, some of the taxi operators were violating the rules laid down by the AAI by resorting to double parking, thereby obstructing the other vehicles.
It is learnt that the AAI had asked the taxi operators to obey the rules, but failed to do so.
The AAI then asked the airport police to initiate prompt action against the yellow black taxi operators and restrict them from parking their vehicles in the premises of the old airport terminal building.
Dourado requested all the taxi operators to follow the rules and avoid double parking in the premises of the old airport terminal building.
The taxi operators dispersed from the airport police station and resumed their operations.
