Two bulls were electrocuted during the wee hours of Saturday when they came in contact with live wires at the Mormugao municipal garden at Patrong Baina.
Sources said the electricity department personnel attached to the Baina sub-station had installed a tube light on an electric pole at the Mormugao municipal garden at Patrong Baina, adding during the wee hours of Saturday, two bulls which had entered the garden got electrocuted as they came in contact with the wires attached to the tube light which were hanging down.
The incident came to light in the morning as some people noticed the bulls lying on the ground.
The chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council immediately rushed to the site after being intimated about the incident as the garden falls in his ward.
Naik took the electricity department personnel to task for their negligence.
The electricity department personnel immediately removed the wires and the tube light that was hanging on the pole.
Meanwhile, the people residing in the vicinity of the garden also raised their strong concern over the negligence on part of electricity department personnel.
“Luckily, no human came in contact with live wires. The garden always remains crowded with children and adults in the evening,” said Ajit Chodankar, a resident of Valmiki Apartment, Chhotta Bazaar, Baina.
