The Goa Tourism Development Corporation has said that work on the Panaji-Reis Magos ropeway project will begin in October this year and will take 24 months to complete.
“The tendering process has been completed, and other formalities for executing the project are underway. This project is on track, and on completion it will become a landmark initiative,” GTDC general manager Gavin Dias said.
With the Panaji-Reis Magos ropeway project, the government wants to open up vistas and locales of the area for tourists, he said.
On the other hand, the much-awaited amphibious bus service taken up under the Goa duck tour project is yet to begin as the corporation has not obtained permissions from various concerned departments.
The trial for the amphibious bus service had been conducted on October 11, 2016, and had been proposed to be launched in November 2016.
“The duck boat project is a very unique tourism initiative which will give a big boost to tourism in Goa and the full-fledged operations will begin once all permissions are obtained,” Dias said.
Initially, two 32-seater vehicles will go on amphibious rides, and later on four more vehicles will be added to the service. The vehicles will operate from Panaji to Old Goa and the Dr Salim Ali bird sanctuary to showcase the natural and cultural treasures of Goa.
