Union Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhambre along with Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik, Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza, BJP state unit president Vinay Tendulkar, and Sadnand Tanwade,  on Sunday evening, participated in a Swacch Bharat drive, organised by Yuva Morcha of BJP at Mapusa bus stand.

Chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council Rohan Kavlekar and other councillors were present. Addressing the gathering on the occasion,  Bhambre said that 80 per cent of the diseases are caused due to poor hygiene.

And, hence it is important for everyone to maintain personal hygiene and to keep the surroundings clean, he said. Speaking on the occasion, Naik said that “after the launch of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, there has been a change in people’s mentality. The people, who used to previously dump their garbage on the roads, have realised that keeping the roads clean is also their duty. Awareness is being created by the school children, who have been educating their parents about Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.”

D’Souza said that “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not only restricted to proper garbage disposal but also involves stopping of open defecation and maintenance of hygiene. Through the MMC, we are building toilets, and under CSR, we will be getting biodigesters set up.”

Meanwhile, Bhambre along with Naik and IDC chairman Glenn Ticlo interacted with the Schedule Tribe community at Peddem.
