PONDA: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has assured that the water scarcity problem in Bethora-Nirankal-Konshe-Kodar panchayat area will be resolved permanently once the electricity cabling work is completed at Opa Water Works.
While answering queries raised by this daily, he said that “at present, underground cabling work is going on at Opa Water Works and we are investing Rs 25 crore on it. After completion of the work, the water supply will get a boost.”
The water scarcity problem in Bethora-Nirankal area will be resolved for a long term, as 2 MLD more water will be supplied to that area.
At Kasarwada-Dattagad-Bethora, people are complaining they are not getting water for four to fifteen days. Tap water is rarely available and water supplied by tankers is insufficient. People claimed that water supplied by PWD is charged at Rs 50 for one drum.
A housewife from Karaswada informed that five to six of them get together and arrange water tanker for which they pay Rs 1000 a trip.
She said that for last three months they have been facing water problem. She said that when they complained about water scarcity at PWD office at Dag they received tap water for two days and, thereafter, it stopped.
At Mestawada and Chafal, residents claimed that they are getting water on alternate days and, that too, for only half an hour.
In such a situation, some residents rely on bore wells. Some even store rain water for house chores. A housewife claimed that she had not bathed her baby for two days due to unavailability of water.
