MARGAO: Chief officer of the Margao Municipal Council Y B Tavde informed that the MMC market inspectors along with the health inspector and FDA officials would jointly conduct inspection of the food kiosks operating in the municipal jurisdiction.
The drive will start from Wednesday, he added.
“This is a preventive measure. To prevent vector borne diseases from spreading in the ensuing monsoon, we have decided to inspect these gaddas jointly, and if found untidy and unclean, we would taken action,” he said.
He informed that the civic body has received several complaints about these gaddas that the operators are not maintaining cleanliness.
He said that the omelet pao gaddas will also be inspected during the drive.
Meanwhile, the chief officer informed that the MMC’s sanitary inspector has lifted four-truck loads of tyres that were found dumped in the open in the municipal areas.
“We have also collected the coconut shells from the Margao and surrounding areas to prevent accumulation of water in them,” sanitary inspector Viraj Arabekar said
