PANAJI: Directorate of Health Services will be celebrating International Day of Yoga on June 21 through all the urban health centres/ community health centres and primary health centres. The major functions will be held at five places from June 20 to 22, which will be in addition to the programmes at UHC/CHC/PHC level.
The function on June 21, to be held between 10.30 a.m to 1.p.m at Institute of Menezes Braganza hall, Panaji, will see Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza as the chief guest whereas MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker will be the guest of honour. This state-level function will be followed by a technical session by Dr Makarand Gore, ex-assistant director, Kaivalya Dham Centre, (Lonavala).
On June 22, the function to be held between 10.30 a.m to 12.30 p.m at Rosary College of Arts and Commerce, Navelim, will have Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado as the chief guest while Fr Simon Diniz will be the guest of honour. This state-level function will be followed by a technical session.
The urban-level function will be held on June 20, from 4.30 p.m to 5.30 p.m at Sneha Mandir Bandora and Club Tennis de Gasper Dias hall wherein there will be a lecture and demonstration.
Similarly on June 21, from 7.30 a.m to 8.30 a.m at Ark hall, St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Mapusa, Adarsh Vanita High School, Pajifond-Margao, MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar and GVM’s Dr Dada Vaidya College of Education, Farmagudi there will be yoga protocol lectures and demonstrations.
On the same day, all the health centres from all over Goa will be conducting live lectures and demonstrations/yoga protocols.
Students, NCC cadets and general public will be participating in various functions to be held on June 21, between 3 p.m to 4.30 p.m at Central library-Panaji, between 6 p.m to 7 p.m at NIO-Panaji, on June 22, between 3 p.m- 4.30 p.m at Goa Medical College, Bambolim, and between 6 p.m to 7 p.m at International Centre Goa. The speaker will be Dr Makarand Gore.
All the above programmes will be conducted in association with Breathe in Breathe out (yoga relief and de-stress Programme) and Prati Yogayana.
