Yoga has connected the nation: Negi

Various organisations and institutions observed International Yoga Day all over Mormugao taluka.
A 90-minutes workshop was organised by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in association with Airport Authority of India (AAI) for its personnel at old Dabolim airport premises.
Various skills were performed by the trainer cum instructor Pushkar Naik attached to the Isha Foundation.
“Yoga has connected the nation,” said the Airport director Bhupesh Chand Hans Negi. He also informed that Yoga sessions were conducted all over India at all airports, following the directions issued by the AAI.
Negi inaugurated the workshop by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of deputy commandant CISF Sankararao Reddi, assistant commandant Brij Mohan Singh and others.
The Directorate of Health Services also observed International Yoga Day in association with Urban Health Centre (UHC), Vasco at Swami Vivekanand Hall of MES College Zuarinagar.
The higher secondary school students along with principal Avita Dias, instructor Namdev Chopdekar, health officer UHC Vasco Dr Rashmi Khandeparkar, urban health educator Rupali Sakhalkar, Dr Vishwajeet Dessai and others participated in the event.
The Indian Naval personnel and their families also observed International Yoga Day on Tuesday.
Yoga camps and workouts were organised at various places under the Goa Naval Area to cater for the entire Naval community. Personnel from units, ships and establishments at Goa Naval Area undertook Yoga under the watchful eyes of trained Yoga instructors and used this opportunity to learn the skill and understand its benefits.
A Yoga Awareness Cycle Rally was organised from naval headquarters to Sada by Naval Air Craft Yard (Goa). The participants were wearing yogic awareness T-shirts. The Indian Navy, has, over the years, assimilated yoga into their physical fitness regimen.
Sports, adventure and physical fitness are part of the curriculum for naval personnel in line with the maxim, ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’.
The Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) also observed the International Yoga Day at its Indoor Sports Complex based at Chicalim.
The event started early morning with inaugural lighting of the lamp by Rear Admiral (retd) Shekhar Mital, director (operations) S P Raikar, director (operations), director (finance) T N Sudhakar, Dr Suraj Kanekar, Damodar Govekar, Kamesh Bandekar and others. The yoga were performed by officers, employees and their families along with CISF personnel throughout the day in different sessions, thereby making the event a success.
