Waterlogging can be tackled if CCP, govt work together: Mayor

The Corporation of City of Panaji Mayor Surendra Furtado has said that if the state government and CCP can work together then the waterlogging in the city can be tackled with ease.
Addressing the media Furtado said, the tragedy is that the government is not cooperating with the CCP especially at a time when the Assembly elections are round the corner.
He said that if anyone proves that he has taken a single penny, he will quit his post.
Speaking further Furtado said, city residents are suffering due to incessant rains and flooding near Municipal building, Ambedkar garden, near Miramar road and L and T bridge which is under construction.
He said that apart from flooding, CCP has been encountering numerous problems related to garbage management. Adding, that the Curca panchayat has stopped unloading of garbage trucks but the CCP commissioner is not bothered to take any action. He said that the trucks are lying at the garbage site and in the open since Friday.
Furtado appealed to the government to give him a garbage dumping site so that the garbage can be dumped. Furtado said that he wrote a letter to the CCP commissioner requesting for a garbage dumping site. He said that the Parade ground is filled with garbage and is posing many problems to the CCP in clearing the same.
