A rear portion of a house owned by Grego Mendes residing at Desterro in Vasco was damaged due to incessant rain which was accompanied by gusty winds during Saturday early morning.
Luckily no casualties were reported in the incident and all the occupants of the house had a lucky escape.
As per house owner Mendes, he had incurred a loss of Rs 1.50 lakh. Meanwhile another house owned by Cosme Mendes in the vicinity has developed several cracks putting the lives of occupants in danger.
In yet another incident, a huge jungle tree collapsed on over head electric wires near the old Mormugao police station at Mormugao Harbour on Saturday morning. There were no casualties reported in the incident.
The vehicular traffic was paralyzed for a couple of hours. Vasco fire station personnel rushed to the site and cleared the tree.
Power supply in various parts of Mormugao Harbour was disrupted for a few hours and was later restored in the afternoon.
