Garbage and tenant verification issues featured at Sangolda gram sabha on Sunday.
A resident pointed out that the fields were getting choked due to dumping of garbage and that it was further resulting in water accumulation.
On this issue, it was informed that the panchayat has formed a committee to monitor and ensure that no garbage is disposed of irresponsibly and if anybody is found doing so that person would have to pay a fine.
Sarpanch Nilkanth informed the gram sabha that the panchayat will be procuring 40 garbage bins from the funds received under the 14th finance commission. On being questioned, he said that safety gear like gloves, masks were provided to the garbage collection workers.
He further informed that bins would be placed at strategic points for collection of dry and wet garbage separately. He said that garbage has increased in the village and that there was a request from Bella Vista ward and Devashree housing complex to collect garbage due to which the garbage vehicle is making three trips a day.
Further the residents resolved that the peon and staff of the panchayat be provided with identity cards.
The residents also raised the issues of scrapyard operating illegally at Morod and bad condition of road at Bella Vista. They pointed out that the potholes on the road were filled with mud and that another road in Livrament waddo was partly hotmix carpeted.
It was further highlighted that the fire brigade was needed to be asked to prune overgrown trees along the busy CHOGM road as they are posing danger to the motorists.
The issue of tenant verification was also raised and the panchayat was asked to collect one month’s rent from those who let out rooms. A bio diversity committee was constituted during the gram sabha.
Meanwhile, secretary Pooja Gawas read out the minutes of the previous gram sabha.
