Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making consistent efforts to stop the infiltration of the terrorists from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ahir said that the central government has taken steps to end incitement in Jammu and Kashmir, and prepared a dossier of the activities undertaken by the Pakistan in the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK).
He was addressing the BJP workers from Mormugao, Vasco, Dabolim and Cortalim constituencies during a meeting held opposite Mormugao Municipality building during ‘Yaad Karo Kurbani’ programme, organised to commemorate the 70th Independence Day celebration on Monday.
Earlier, a massive two-wheeler ‘Tiranga Rally’ was taken out in the town from KTC bus stand Vasco by the workers of the BJP from four constituencies of the Mormugao taluka. South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, Power Minister Milind Naik, Minister for Science and Technology Alina Saldanha, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council Deepak Naik, deputy chairperson Sashikant Parab besides councillors participated in the rally.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs said that the infiltration of terrorists across Indo-Pakistan border has been reduced to a great extent due to surveillance by BSF, CRPF and other security agencies for over a year now.
He said that India would never bow down to terrorism and infiltration by the terrorists through the borders, but would adopt a tit-for-tat approach to put an end to cross-border terrorism and infiltration.
He disclosed that the Prime Minister Modi has decided to celebrate the 70th Independence Day in a grand way, highlighting the sacrifices of the martyrs who struggled to free India from the British rule.
He recalled the sacrifices of the Indian heroes like Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Dhingra, Ashfaqulla Khan, Veer Savarkar besides others who fought against the British rule in a true spirit of patriotism.
“I am proud to know that Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, T B Cunha and others fought to free Goa from the Portuguese rule,” he said, adding it is the need of the hour to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs who shed their blood to free India from the clutches of the British rule and also to liberate Goa from the Portuguese rule.
