With an aim to make Goa Forward Party stronger, chief spokesperson of Goa Forward Party Prashant Naik, on Sunday, appealed to the expelled senior Congress leader Trajano D’Mello to join the party.
“The ideology of Trajano D’Mello and GFP are quite similar and I feel that in order to take Goa forward the progressive minds should come together. I request him to join GFP and make the party stronger and take the burden on his shoulder of taking Goa forward,” said Naik while addressing media persons in Panaji.
He said that D’Mello has been expelled for six years from Congress as he has charged the local Congress leadership of having a setting with other political parties during the recently concluded state assembly election.
He praised D’Mello for consistently pursuing the people’s issues, and made sure that the initiative taken up by him reaches its logical end.
“I don’t think any other person in the Congress party has done a better job like D’Mello,” he said.
Commenting on the removal of Digvijay Singh as the Goa Desk incharge of Congress party Naik said, “Digvijay Singh was dismissed as he publically admitted the mistake for not forming a pre-poll alliance with GFP.
He said that the future of the 125 year old Congress party is in danger due to their internal party conflicts which is emerging in the public domain each day.
He urged the Congress leaders to join the GFP if they think that there is no hope to take Goa forward by being in the Congress party.
Commenting on the offer to join the GFP, Trajano D’Mello said that he is yet to receive any official letter of expulsion from the Congress party, and added that many other parties are in talks with him and hence he will think of considering or rejecting the offer only after he receives an official request from the GFP.
“I have not received any official communication of my expulsion from the Congress party. Many other political parties are in touch with me. I will give a deep thought and then decide on joining any party,” he said.
