PONDA
Anticipating injury to their wards due to work of renovation of the school building, parents of children studying in Government Primary School, Dhaushire-Usgao have decided not to send them to school from Thursday and warned that they will start withdrawing their names from the school from Monday.
Parents also complained that there is no proper seating arrangement in the alternate place where the classes are being conducted. It was also claimed that the school does not have adequate number of teachers.
According to reliable sources, the renovation work was started on May 10 this year. Parents are demanding that till completion of renovation work, students must be shifted to proper place where there is proper environment for studying.
PTA president Radhika Fatrekar informed media that the school authority had undertaken renovation work and removed roof of the school without making proper arrangement for seating so they had submitted a letter on Tuesday to ADEI Ponda informing him about the problem and urging him to make arrangement to admit them in other nearby school.
Parents claimed that the ADEI had promised them that they will visit school premises on Wednesday along with the director of Education, deputy collector, headmaster, engineer and contractor and will sort out the problem. Parents claimed that they had gathered nearby to meet them but nobody turned up and so they have unanimously decided not to send their children to the school from Thursday and to withdraw admission from Monday onwards. Parents informed that 97 students are enrolled in the school but only three teachers are deputed.
